Fun fact about me: I never tried Brussels sprouts until I moved to the US for college 10 years ago since it wasn’t available much in Malaysia. But growing up, I had a negative opinion of it just because it was always shown as something unpleasant in TV shows.

But fast forward to today, and it’s now one of my favorite veggies! Instead of simply boiling it and leaving it bland, I go for other cooking methods like roasting in the oven or in this case, air frying!

With this recipe, you’ll get Brussels sprouts that are deliciously crispy on the outside, while still soft on the inside. You only require 15 minutes of active prep time before leaving it to the air fryer to take care of the rest.

Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts Air Fried Recipe

The Bang Bang Sauce was made popular by the restaurant Bonefish Grill with their hit appetizer, the Bang Bang Shrimp (you can try out my recipe here!). A mouthwatering spicy and creamy sauce made from only 4 ingredients: mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and sesame oil.

Mix the sauce together with seasoned air fried Brussels sprouts, and you’ve got yourself some delectably crispy, savory, and creamy bites on your hands. Serve it as is for your snacking needs (yes, it’s very snack-able!) or enjoy it as part of your main course.

Ingredients

(For full ingredient measurements, please proceed to the recipe card below.)

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Olive oil

Seasonings

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Panko crumbs (optional)

Bang bang sauce

  • Japanese mayo
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Sriracha
  • Sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse Brussels sprouts and pat dry. Cut off the ends of each Brussels sprout and cut into two. Cutting into two should remove the outside layer, if not just peel it off.
  2. In a bowl, add all the ingredients for the seasonings. Add Brussels sprouts and coat it by tossing or by using your hands. If you added the panko crumbs, drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  3. Transfer to the air fryer basket and cook at 375 F for 10-15 minutes– shaking the basket halfway for even cooking.
  4. In the meantime, mix all the ingredients for the bang bang sauce and set aside for later.
  5. Once the Brussels sprouts are cooked, transfer to a serving plate and drizzle the sauce all over it. Optional step: add grated parmesan. Serve and enjoy!

Notes for Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts Air Fryer Recipe

  • Cut into quarters: If the Brussels sprouts are extra big, cut the halves into smaller halves.
  • Oven bake: You can also bake this in the oven at 400 F for 30-35 minutes.
  • Don’t worry about overcrowding: You can cook the whole batch of Brussels sprouts at once in the air fryer and don’t need to worry about it overlapping.
  • Pat them dry: Make sure the Brussels sprouts are pet dry after you wash them. Otherwise, the water will prevent them from crisping up in the air fryer/oven.

The best pizza in the city where pizza was invente The best pizza in the city where pizza was invented @farahjeats 🍕
📍Pizzeria Da Michele, Naples, Italy
📍 Pizzeria D’angeli, Naples, Italy
We got pizza from one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, Italy and it didn’t disappoint. We got there right when it opened and there was already a line. We ended up getting the pizzas to-go and ate it on the hood of our rental car. Each box of pizza was only €5 and we got every item on the menu (it was only a 4 item menu anyway 😂). While waiting in line, the smell of the wood fired pizza was sooo good we were so hungry by the time we got our orders. We got pizzas from across the street too just to compare. There was no line at that restaurant and you could easily get a table. It was a little bit more expensive per pizza but still affordable. Both pizzas were delicious! Still dreaming about it till this day 🥲
Fun fact: Eat, Pray, Love was filmed at Pizzeria Da Michele!

Save and share this flavorful and delicious recipe!
Ending my Ramadan series with one of the best dishes. This is a dish that’s traditionally served during Eid/Raya in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Every family usually has their own version of this. It’s usually served with nasi impit (cubed rice), lemang or pulut kuning (turmeric glutinous rice) but also just as good with white rice.
Making this is a truly a labor of love especially when you make big batches. It can take hours! Families will cook this the night before Eid so the dish will be ready in time for the big celebration. The whole house will usually smell like rendang when this is made and honestly, one of the best smells that reminds me of such great and fond memories.
This month just flew by— thanks so much for tuning in. I’ll be back with my usual twice a week recipes starting next week 💛
