Nothing beats a refreshing dessert to brighten up our summer days. And mangoes are the summer fruit that always seems to be a crowd favorite!

Since we’re smack dab in the middle of mango season right now, what better time to try an effortless recipe that’s so delicious, you’ll be coming back for more!

What Is Mango Sago?

Mango sago is super easy to make, and only requires a handful of ingredients!

Essentially, you just need to blend together some mango, coconut milk, and condensed milk until it reaches a smooth consistency, before mixing it with cooked sago.

Top it off with some cut mangoes for a sweeter flavor! I even like to add on some coconut flakes as the texture pairs amazingly well.

Creamy Mango Sago Dessert

It’s a dessert that’s enjoyed all across Asia, such as the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia. And it’s thought to originate from Hong Kong.

In fact, a popular variation of the Cantonese dessert is to add on some pomelo bits on top to make a mango pomelo sago.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(For full ingredient measurements, please proceed to the recipe card below.)

  • Sago/small tapioca pearls: You can get these from your local Asian grocer, or I’ve linked it as well. Once cooked, the sago will turn clear and have a soft, chewy, and jelly-like texture.
  • Water
  • Mangoes: Ripe mangoes are the best for this dessert as they’ll be deliciously sweet.
  • Condensed milk: The sweetener for this dessert.
  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut flakes (optional)

how to make mango sago dessert pudding

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and once it’s boiling, add the sago. Let it cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once the sago is cooked, turn off heat and cover with a lid and leave for another 10 minutes. Drain the sago after 10 minutes and rinse with water until cool to touch then transfer to a container.
  3. While the sago is cooking, cut 1 mango and transfer to a blender. Add coconut milk and condensed milk to the blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Transfer the mango mixture into the container with the sago and mix well. Optional step but highly recommend to let it cool in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. Dice the other mango for the topping.
  5. To assemble, pour the mango sago into serving containers. Optional step, pour a layer of coconut milk on top. Add the diced mangoes on top with some coconut flakes. Enjoy!

Notes For mango sago dessert pudding

  • The amount of condensed milk you add depends on the sweetness/ripeness of your mango. Adjust accordingly.
  • Keep in mind that once the mango mixture is mixed with the sago, it will make it less sweet. Hence, it’s okay for the mango mixture to be sweeter than you would prefer prior to mixing with sago. Adjust accordingly.

The best pizza in the city where pizza was invente The best pizza in the city where pizza was invented @farahjeats 🍕
📍Pizzeria Da Michele, Naples, Italy
📍 Pizzeria D’angeli, Naples, Italy
We got pizza from one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, Italy and it didn’t disappoint. We got there right when it opened and there was already a line. We ended up getting the pizzas to-go and ate it on the hood of our rental car. Each box of pizza was only €5 and we got every item on the menu (it was only a 4 item menu anyway 😂). While waiting in line, the smell of the wood fired pizza was sooo good we were so hungry by the time we got our orders. We got pizzas from across the street too just to compare. There was no line at that restaurant and you could easily get a table. It was a little bit more expensive per pizza but still affordable. Both pizzas were delicious! Still dreaming about it till this day 🥲
Fun fact: Eat, Pray, Love was filmed at Pizzeria Da Michele!

Chewy noodles infused with spicy, tangy and savory flavors, and ready within 30 minutes!
This is definitely not an authentic recipe but a simplified version that my mother-in-law makes often and now a recipe that I make quite a lot for a quick breakfast using ingredients easily accessible to us here. It definitely hits the spot! Feel free to add protein of your choice to this dish or just add a fried egg on top!

Ramadan recipe #21 Rendang Ayam (Dry Chicken Cocon Ramadan recipe #21 Rendang Ayam (Dry Chicken Coconut Curry) @farahjeats
Save and share this flavorful and delicious recipe!
Ending my Ramadan series with one of the best dishes. This is a dish that’s traditionally served during Eid/Raya in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Every family usually has their own version of this. It’s usually served with nasi impit (cubed rice), lemang or pulut kuning (turmeric glutinous rice) but also just as good with white rice.
Making this is a truly a labor of love especially when you make big batches. It can take hours! Families will cook this the night before Eid so the dish will be ready in time for the big celebration. The whole house will usually smell like rendang when this is made and honestly, one of the best smells that reminds me of such great and fond memories.
This month just flew by— thanks so much for tuning in. I’ll be back with my usual twice a week recipes starting next week 💛
