Ayo! Your girl’s back with another hot finger lickin’ good recipe. If you’re like me and can never resist a good batch of chicken wings then say no more – this is the recipe for you!

A week ago, a few of my followers on Instagram (if you haven’t, follow me @farahjeats :D) asked for healthier recipes. That’s when I realized that most of the recipes I’ve been sharing are not really the healthiest. LOL. So today’s recipe is a healthy-ish recipe but still full of flavor chicken wings that you can make without deep frying.. and still have it extra crispy!

THE SPICY HONEY GARLIC SAUCE

The sauce is everything you could ever ask for and uses only 4 ingredients! The heat comes from one of the most loved Asian hot sauce, Sriracha. Fun fact: I HATED Sriracha when I first moved here. It was just really different than the hot/chili sauce that I’m used to back in Malaysia. But eventually it started to grow on me and is now one of my kitchen must haves. I love Sriracha for this because it has just the right amount of heat for most people and has that tangy flavor with just a hint of sweetness.

To balance that out, we are using honey. This turned out to be the perfect combo that leaves you drooling for more. As you know (or don’t know), I am obsessed with garlic! So of course garlic is also an important component to this sauce. Instead of just using garlic powder like most sauces, I wanted a strong garlic taste. We are using real garlic that’s been sautéed in butter. You get a hit of delicious garlic with every bite and honestly, is there anything better? BRB, currently drooling while I’m typing this.

AIR FRIED CHICKEN WINGS

We all know air fryers are now THE kitchen gadget. Almost everyone has one now and it is the healthier and more convenient option to your frying needs. I LOVE my air fryer and we use it so much that it broke. LOL. We have a new one now that I love even more. I highly recommend it!

Can you get wings that are just as crispy as the deep fried ones? Great news guys, gals, and non-binary pals, you definitely can!

easy spicy honey garlic chicken wings tasty delicious quick air fryer

A lot of people have shared their tips by using cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, etc. But just coating it with flour will give you the exact same crispy results without the powdery aftertaste. It’s as easy as that! I tried this once and was so impressed, I’m convinced this is the only and BEST way to air fry chicken wings.

TIPS FOR THE BEST SPICY HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS

  • Cooking Spray – You need to spray a layer of cooking oil to get that nice crispy chicken wings. That and the seasoned flour will make the chicken crisp up perfectly.
  • Garlic – Garlic is key for this recipe. Use as many as your heart desires! It’s also important not to burn the garlic, so cook on medium low heat for 4-5 minutes.
  • Letting it Cool – Make sure to let the chicken cool for at least 5 minutes before tossing it with the sauce. Otherwise, the sauce will separate.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 7 whole chicken wings (cut into drumettes and flats)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Spicy Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 8 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp green onions

Others

  • Chili oil optional
  • sesame seeds optional – for garnish

Instructions

Spicy Honey Garlic Sauce

  • Melt butter in a medium sized pan over medium heat.
  • Once the butter melts, turn the heat down to medium low and add the minced garlic.
  • Sauté for 4-5 minutes making sure the garlic does not burn.
  • Turn the heat off and add the Sriracha, honey, salt and green onions. Stir until well combined.
  • Mix the flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder until well combined.

Chicken Wings

  • Coat every piece of the chicken wings with the seasoned flour.
  • Spray a thin layer of cooking spray at the bottom of the air fryer basket and place the wings skin down, making sure not to overcrowd and that the wings are not touching.
  • Spray the chicken wings with another layer of cooking spray and air fry it at 375 F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Once cooked, let it cool for 5 minutes before tossing it with the sauce.
  • Optional: Drizzle with chili oil for extra heat and garnish with sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

*The cooking spray is important in order to get that crispiness from air frying.
*If you’re not a fan of Sriracha or don’t have it, feel free to substitute it with a hot sauce of your choice but adjust the other ingredients accordingly.

Just tried it and the recipe is bang on!! Dry flour coating on chicken makes it super crispy in the airfryer. Loved the glaze too.. but I had to stop my children from eating off the fried chicken before glazing it with the sauce

I don’t have an air fryer. Do you have a recipe on how to cook it in the pan or oven? Thanks!

You can shallow fry the chicken or bake in an oven but best to use a baking rack so it will be crispy. If using an oven, try using rice flour instead. Try baking at 400 F until golden brown/crispy, flipping halfway.

Dry Chili Pan Mee and Malaysian Style Honey Chicke Dry Chili Pan Mee and Malaysian Style Honey Chicken Wings (recipe coming soon) for lunch yesterday. I used my favorite oyster sauce that I have loved and used for years from @leekumkeeusa for both dishes.
Oyster sauce is one of my kitchen staples and it gives the perfect umami flavor to any dish. I use it a lot for marinating, stir frying and as a sauce ingredient. Ever since I started cooking, I've always used the oyster sauce from @leekumkeeusa . My family uses this too! So I'm so excited to be collaborating with them on this ☺ They sent over a few bottles together with super cute Lee Kum Kee goodies!
You can find the full recipe for the Dry Chili Pan Mee if you search it on my website. Link in bio.

My love language is quality time. Like everyone My love language is quality time.
Like everyone else, we weren’t able to see people as much because of the pandemic. So now I cherish the times I spend with the people I love even more. Food has always been an integral part of that as well. Whenever we go out to meet people, we’re always meeting for breakfast, lunch or dinner. When we invite people over, I’m always cooking up a feast for them because I genuinely enjoy making food for others. I like to believe food is also my love language (although that’s not technically right, let me believe what I want to believe ok 😌).
As a foodie, I enjoy food a lot and LOVE trying new types of food. But I also love how food brings people together. The holiday season is always the best time in my opinion because of this. So I’m extremely excited for the next few weeks ☺️
Whatever your holidays may look like or what your love language is, I hope you’re able to take some time to slow down and appreciate the people around you. Don’t forget to take some time for self care as well and enjoy all the amazing food of course!

Salmon mentai 🍣 This is a must order for me w Salmon mentai 🍣
This is a must order for me when we go to Japanese restaurants back in Malaysia. It’s basically flame seared salmon with a creamy spicy mayo pollack roe sauce. It’s the best 🤤 Since they don’t serve this at Japanese restaurants here, I started making it myself at home. Either as a nigiri or rice bowl.
@culinaryjochef was kind enough to send me their Superior RX refillable blowtorch so I can make this and many other recipes 😍 I’ll be honest, I was scared at first 😆 my husband is usually the one doing these things for me. But the instructions were clear and detailed and it was so easy to use, I felt comfortable using it almost immediately. Swipe to see it in action and some salmon mentai goodness 🤤
It also comes as a bundle with a butane fuel so I don’t have to go out and look for one that fits. It comes with a free recipe ebook of so many foods you can make with their blowtorch. I highly recommend this, check them out.

Fried rice is one of the best meals in my opinion Fried rice is one of the best meals in my opinion because for such an easy dish, it’s so satisfying. I like my fried rice spicy so one of my fav recipes is this Chili Oil Spam Fried Rice. It’s easy, spicy and delicious.
For this particular one, I decided to swap out my chili oil for 1 tsp of @pepperexchange’s Red Habanero pepper puree and omg, it’s so good. Definitely hot but just the way I like it 😉

Miso Garlic Butter Salmon 😍 I’ve been making Miso Garlic Butter Salmon 😍
I’ve been making this a lot lately and we always have leftovers because I tend to cook like I’m feeding an army when it’s really just two and sometimes three people in this house 😂 not complaining though because although this salmon is so good with just white rice, it’s great for other things too. Like salad or for wraps! There’s a viral salmon rice food trend lately and this is so good for that too. However you eat it, this salmon recipe is definitely a must try 😍

Korean Fire Chicken with Cheese or Cheese Buldak 🥵 Swipe for some cheese pull action.
This hot and subtly sweet sauce chicken is so addictive! Add the cheese and it’s *chef’s kiss*
I had this a few weeks ago at a Korean restaurant and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was served with white rice and it was so SO good. Mike and I got this to share but I’m pretty sure I ate like more than half 😂
Tried recreating it at home and after a few tries, I think I made the perfect buldak sauce but I could be biased 🤪 I like it really hot but you can adjust the heat level based on your preference. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.

Chinese style Lemon Chicken 🍋 This is a favor Chinese style Lemon Chicken 🍋
This is a favorite of mine when we go to Chinese restaurants and it’s so easy to make at home! Although not as popular in the western food world as its sister dish the orange chicken, I think it’s just as good if not (dare I say it) better! It’s the perfect balance of sweet and tangy with every bite of the crispy chicken.
I like eating this with rice but it’s so good on its own too. Make this for your next meal 😋

Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp 🍤 This popular local H Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp 🍤
This popular local Hawaiian dish is definitely my kind of meal. It’s garlicky and flavorful— and made with just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have at home!
Usually cooked and eaten with the shell on and since it’s shallow fried, it makes the shell crispy. I personally love eating it this way but if you can always peel it off.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Shrimp
Corn starch
Paprika
Cayenne
Salt
Garlic
Butter
Lemon
