Do you have any particular food or restaurant that you and your friends fall back on when you can’t seem to figure out what to have for dinner? In Malaysia, my friends and I would frequent to this one place that had the best truffle mushroom cheese pizza.
There wasn’t a time when they didn’t deliver. We would nurse a food coma afterwards every single time!
So when one of them came to visit me in Chicago back in December, it felt like serendipity when we came across a truffle mushroom cheese pizza in one of our food hunts. It was so good, we devoured it within minutes!
I was inspired to make my own version from this particular pizza, where one of the ingredients was some taleggio cheese.
Truffle Oil Mushroom Cheese Pizza
I think that the flavor that comes from the taleggio and parmesan cheese combo makes for the perfect base for this pizza. Together with toppings of sautéed garlic and mushrooms, truffle oil, mozzarella (more cheese!), and some roasted garlic sauce by the side, you’ll be on cloud nine for sure.

Notes for Wild Mushroom Cheese Pizza with Truffle Oil
- Truffle Oil (optional) – Add on as much truffle oil as you’d like. I personally love the taste, so I tend to add heaps on to my slices. But if you’re not a fan, it’s still as delicious if you skip the truffle oil.
- Cheese – You can use either taleggio or parmesan cheese for this or a combination of both. I find that either or both of the cheese is the perfect flavor for the base of this pizza.
- Roasted Garlic – To roast the garlic, cut off 1/4-1/2 inch off the top of the whole head of garlic. Place on foil and drizzle oil all over. Wrap in the foil. Bake at 400°F for 35-45 minutes or until the garlic is brown and soft to touch.
- Chili Oil (optional) – If you’d like a bit more spice in your sauce, add on some chili oil! I used my Homemade Chili Oil, but if you’re looking for a store-bought option, I recommend the one by Lao Gan Ma.
