easy honey soy garlic chicken wings korean

When I was first introduced to the world of Korean fried chicken, I was amazed. There’s an array of delicious flavors available that you can choose from, including this Cheesy Korean Fried Chicken that has a spicy and sweet gochujang marinade.

But I will say that my ultimate favorite flavor would have to be the soy garlic ones. So sweet, savory and garlicky, it hits the spot every time!

Soy Garlic Wings

Once the wings are coated in seasoned flour, it would normally be deep fried using the double-fry method, which gives the chicken an extra crunchy crust. Then you toss the wings with the sauce to get a beautiful glaze all around.

With this recipe, however, you can air fry or bake the chicken wings and still get a crispy coating just like the ones from deep frying. And it only requires 10 minutes of prep before the air fryer or oven takes over the work.

It’s a great appetizer option for a dinner party or game day snacking, or turn it into a full meal by pairing it with some rice.

Instructions

Air Fried Chicken Wings

  1. Coat every piece of the chicken wings with the seasoned flour.
  2. Spray a thin layer of cooking spray at the bottom of the air fryer basket and place the wings skin down, making sure not to overcrowd and that the wings are not touching.
  3. Spray the chicken wings with another layer of cooking spray and air fry it at 350 F for 10 minutes, flip it then 375 F for another 10 minutes.
  4. Once cooked, let it cool slightly for 2-3 minutes before tossing it with the sauce.

Soy Garlic Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat and add garlic.
  2. Stir and let it cook for 1-2 minutes and turn the heat down to medium low.
  3. Add light soy sauce, sugar, honey, rice vinegar and pepper and stir until well combined.
  4. Let it simmer until the sauce thickens up (3-4 minutes) (see notes).
  5. Add wings to the sauce and toss to coat. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!

Oven Option

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together and pat dry the wings before coating in mixture.
  3. Lay wings on a baking rack and bake for 1  hour, flipping halfway through.

Notes for Soy Garlic Wings

  • Deep fry option: You can also deep fry the chicken if that’s what you prefer. Double fry for extra crispiness.
  • Cooking spray: The cooking spray is important in order to get that crispiness from air frying.
  • Sauce consistency: The sauce will thicken up even more when it’s cold. Make sure not to thicken it up too much. If it becomes too thick or to loosen the sauce, add water (1 tbsp at a time) until your desired consistency.

The best pizza in the city where pizza was invente The best pizza in the city where pizza was invented @farahjeats 🍕
📍Pizzeria Da Michele, Naples, Italy
📍 Pizzeria D’angeli, Naples, Italy
We got pizza from one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, Italy and it didn’t disappoint. We got there right when it opened and there was already a line. We ended up getting the pizzas to-go and ate it on the hood of our rental car. Each box of pizza was only €5 and we got every item on the menu (it was only a 4 item menu anyway 😂). While waiting in line, the smell of the wood fired pizza was sooo good we were so hungry by the time we got our orders. We got pizzas from across the street too just to compare. There was no line at that restaurant and you could easily get a table. It was a little bit more expensive per pizza but still affordable. Both pizzas were delicious! Still dreaming about it till this day 🥲
Fun fact: Eat, Pray, Love was filmed at Pizzeria Da Michele!

This is definitely not an authentic recipe but a simplified version that my mother-in-law makes often and now a recipe that I make quite a lot for a quick breakfast using ingredients easily accessible to us here. It definitely hits the spot! Feel free to add protein of your choice to this dish or just add a fried egg on top!

Ramadan recipe #21 Rendang Ayam (Dry Chicken Cocon Ramadan recipe #21 Rendang Ayam (Dry Chicken Coconut Curry) @farahjeats
Save and share this flavorful and delicious recipe!
Ending my Ramadan series with one of the best dishes. This is a dish that’s traditionally served during Eid/Raya in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Every family usually has their own version of this. It’s usually served with nasi impit (cubed rice), lemang or pulut kuning (turmeric glutinous rice) but also just as good with white rice.
Making this is a truly a labor of love especially when you make big batches. It can take hours! Families will cook this the night before Eid so the dish will be ready in time for the big celebration. The whole house will usually smell like rendang when this is made and honestly, one of the best smells that reminds me of such great and fond memories.
This month just flew by— thanks so much for tuning in. I’ll be back with my usual twice a week recipes starting next week 💛
