Simple Ramen Dish
I’m always on the hunt for easy noodle soup recipes to add to my roster. Because whenever my cravings for something “soupy” hits, I’m like, “ah ha!”, now’s the perfect time for that dish.
While experimenting around, I knew I wanted something simple that’s inspired by the flavors of the classic shoyu ramen. “Shoyu” is Japanese for “soy sauce”, and the broth for shoyu ramen is typically made with chicken or pork stock (that’s simmered with the bones for depth of flavor), and soy sauce.

Quick and Easy Instant Ramen With Few Ingredients
So taking inspiration from that, I incorporate the ingredients that would yield the umami and aromatic flavors: such as light soy sauce, chicken broth, and garlic. This quick and easy “instant” ramen broth only requires 6 ingredients altogether!
You can pair it up with your favorite choice of toppings. In my case, I add a hard boiled egg, some turkey breast slices, and green onions.
The best part is that this comfort bowl of homemade ramen can be made within just 15 minutes! An amazing option for a quick lunch or lazy weeknight meals.

- Oyster sauce
- Sugar

Notes For Simple Homemade Instant Ramen
- Microwave alternative: If you don’t want to heat up the garlic in the microwave, alternatively you can add the garlic in a bowl then heat up neutral oil over the stove until it starts to smoke (roughly 1-2 minutes on high heat) then immediately pour it over the garlic.
- Chicken broth substitute: If you don’t have chicken broth, you can also add water mixed with chicken bouillon powder instead.
- Jammy egg and chili oil: Here’s my recipe for an easy Ramen Egg (Ajitsuke Tamago) without the use of mirin or sake, and Homemade Garlic Chili Oil. Or try the 5-Minute Garlic Chili Oil version.
- Flavor add-ons: You can treat this as a base recipe and add-on your choice of extra flavor seasonings to the mix. Some examples include miso paste and gochujang. You can also check out these noodle soup recipes: Creamy Miso Noodle Soup (15 Minutes) and Spicy Gochujang Noodle Soup (10 Minutes).
- DIY cup noodles or mason jar packed lunch option: For mason jar noodle soup packed lunch, make the garlic mixture seasoning then add all the other ingredients including cooked noodles, except for the hot chicken broth. Once youโre ready to eat, just pour in hot chicken broth and shake/stir.
