Welcome to Day 16 of my Ramadan 2023 Series! Some times, I just have a craving for bread when it comes to iftar (the meal where we break our fast). It can be delicious on its own, but pair it with some side dishes and you’ve got yourself a full meal.
Making bread from scratch can be a bit intimidating, but here’s a simple 2-ingredient dough recipe that anyone can make! It’s a dough recipe hack used by those in the Weight Watchers program. And it can be used for different things like making bagels, cinnamon rolls, and even pizza crust.

Garlic Butter Flatbread Recipe
The flatbread is made using only 2 ingredients: self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Once it’s kneaded into a dough, it’s then pan fried until it turns a beautiful golden brown. The final step is to brush on a generous amount of homemade garlic butter.

how to make garlic butter flatbread (without yeast)
Garlic Butter
- Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut 1/4 – 1/2 inch off the top of each of the garlic knobs. Place garlic knobs on foil (the side that has been cut on top) and drizzle the olive oil all over the garlic, focusing more on the exposed area.
- Cover the knobs completely with foil and bake at 400 F for 45 minutes-50 minutes or until the garlic have browned and feel soft when pressed.
- In a bowl, add roasted garlic, softened butter, Italian seasoning, salt and parsley. Mix until well combined. Set aside for later.
Flatbread
- To a bowl, add the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Mix with a spoon and eventually with a clean hand. Lightly knead it or keep doing a folding motion until you can form a ball (see notes). Separate into two balls.

- Transfer to a greased surface and drizzle a bit of olive oil on top. Flatten it to your desired shape and thickness. Repeat the step with the other dough ball.
- In a frying pan over medium heat, drizzle a bit of oil and add the flatbread. Cover with a lid and let it cook until golden brown (3-4 minutes). Flip it over and let it continue cooking until golden brown.
- Remove from pan and immediately brush on a generous amount of garlic butter. Serve while hot. Enjoy!

notes for garlic butter flatbread (no yeast)
Knead the dough into a ball
The dough ball doesn’t have to be smooth or kneaded perfectly. Just as long as you’re able to form it into a ball.
Why is my 2-ingredient dough so sticky?
Some Greek yoghurts are more watery than others. The extra moisture can result in the dough becoming stickier.
If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour. If it’s too dry and not forming a dough, add a bit more Greek yogurt. Add 1 tbsp at a time for both.
Can you freeze WW 2-ingredient dough?
Yes, you can freeze the dough! Simply place it in a zip bag or saran wrap it, then store in the freezer. Whenever you’d like to use the dough, thaw it out until its at room temperature before adding on your toppings.
However, it will take longer to thaw if you store the dough in a ball shape. So you can roll it out into your desired thickness before storing.
