Summer Pasta Dinner Recipe
We’re welcoming summer with a delicious tomato basil cheese pasta dish that’s so easy to put together! I was first inspired to make this dish after coming across Cafe Maddy’s post on brie pasta.
It’s actually been a viral sensation in Korea ever since it was shared by the singer Sung Si Kyung on his Youtube channel. And it’s now known as Sung Si Kyung’s brie pasta.
However, I’m personally not a fan of brie. So I’ve tweaked the recipe by incorporating cream cheese and grated parmesan instead. And dare I say, it’s absolutely scrumptious!

Easy Tomato Basil Cheese Pasta
This recipe is so easy to make, you’ll be able to plate it within 25 minutes! And there’s only a handful of ingredients needed for this recipe.
It really comes down to the 4 main parts: tomato, basil, cheese (cream cheese and parmesan, in this case), and pasta. A bit of chili oil is added for some seasoning and punch of heat, but you can opt to substitute with just salt and pepper instead!
All the ingredients are combined together in a bowl, then they’re mixed until the cheese melts and gives you a delightful, creamy sauce. Voila! As simple as can be.

Ingredients You’ll Need
(For full ingredient measurements, please proceed to the recipe card below.)
- Softened cream cheese
- Grated parmesan
- Cherry tomatoes
- Basil leaves
- Pasta
- Chili oil: I used my Homemade Chili Oil, but if youโre looking for a store-bought option, I recommend the one by Lao Gan Ma.
- Pasta water

How To Make Easy Tomato Basil Cheese Pasta
- Boil pasta in salted water per package instructions. Right before time is up, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and set aside for later.
- Grate parmesan and cut softened cream cheese into small pieces. Slice cherry tomatoes into quarters.
- Stack rinsed and dried basil leaves on top of one another and roll as tightly as you can. Slice thinly into ribbons.
- Into a big bowl, add cream cheese and parmesan. Then add the freshly cooked pasta directly from the pot followed by the cherry tomatoes, basil and a splash of pasta water.
- Mix the pasta until the cheese melts and becomes a creamy “sauce” and coats the pasta. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add more pasta water.
- Add chili oil to your taste and mix well (see notes). Serve and enjoy!

Notes For Tomato Basil Cheese Pasta
- If you’re skipping the chili oil, season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Best served immediately.
