The tunacado sandwich–that is, tuna and avocado sandwich–has been blowing up on the social media space for the past few months. It was thrust into the spotlight after Danielle Matzon, a creator who constantly shares on different snacks to try, raved about the sandwich by Joe & The Juice.
At one point, I feel like almost every other video on my TikTok fyp was the tunacado. But it’s not surprising to see how popular this snack has become! A delicious sandwich that’s incredibly filling, and takes only 15 minutes to put together.
This is a quick meal recipe that you can easily make for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Tunacado Sandwich Recipe
Here’s my own spin on the viral sandwich recipe. On a piece of sourdough bread, spread the “tuna mousse” mix, a layer of pesto, then some sliced avocados. I also love to top it off with some chili flakes for that perfect bit of heat.
As with most sandwiches, this recipe is adaptable to your tastes and whims. The Joe & The Juice sandwich uses flatbread and contains sliced tomatoes. Some additional toppings that are equally popular include capers, pickles, grainy mustard, and hot sauce.
